Dan Brown meets Girl, Interrupted

Natalie Brandon has a problem. Diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child, she hears the voice of an angel named Belial. But Belial says there’s someone else who has a message for her – the great poet Dante Alighieri. Christof Ehrlichmann has a plan. A gifted artist who turned his talent to crime, he helps Baron Augustus Sinclair sell art and manuscript forgeries to the unsuspecting rich. But when a personal tragedy destroys his hope for the future, he needs a big score to settle the odds. Christof forges a copy of Dante’s Inferno – complete with a dedication in Dante’s own hand – and enlists Sinclair to sell it. But Christof’s web of lies traps more than just Natalie. As she unravels his deadly scheme, it ensnares Beth, Natalie’s beloved sister, and a few familiar faces from the first Natalie Brandon thriller, The Romanov Legacy: Constantine, Viktor, Vadim, and Liliya. The adventure began in The Romanov Legacy. Now, in The Dante Deception, go back six years and meet the enemies Natalie and Constantine never knew they had. Nothing will be forgotten. Nothing will be forgiven.

Nero Wolfe meets Hannibal Lecter

Someone not only kidnaps his patients—but returns them maimed.

When the first victim reappears, she has a digit missing on her ring finger. Moody sees she’s traumatized and tries to help her, but in a therapy session, she runs out of his office and kills a jogger. A second patient is kidnapped, returned, also with a finger-digit missing; she sets Moody’s office on fire, then murders someone else—a fireman who responds to the alarm.

The LAPD discovers that both murder victims, the jogger and the fireman, worked on staff of the Psych ward where Moody took his internship. So they tap his phone. Now, he’s a person of interest. So, Moody has to catch the kidnapper on his own. And not eat over it—even though he’s totally stressed.
